Congregation Sherith Israel welcomes everyone, regardless of background, level of observance or Jewish knowledge.
Our well-attended, participatory services are meaningful, warm, and welcoming and feature inspiring Divrei Torah and beautiful singing, followed by community kiddushes. We offer extensive programming, including education for youth and adults, social events, and community service.
The most important aspect of Sherith Israel is our strong community, united in commitment to Judaism, the State of Israel, and each other.
A message from Rabbi Saul:
Baruch Habbah! Welcome to Sherith Israel!
Once you step inside you’ll find a welcoming and diverse community of individuals and families who come together on weekly (and daily) basis to celebrate Shabbat and Chagim, to study Torah, and to engage together as a community.
With the flavor of Orthodoxy unique to Nashville, you will find our atmosphere to be, on the one hand comfortably traditional, and on the other hand, profoundly relevant and engaging. So if you are new to town or just visiting, I invite you to stop by and when you come in, please find me so that I can formally welcome you to Nashville and to Sherith Israel.
- Rabbi Saul Strosberg
A message from our shul President:
Welcome to Sherith Israel, a vibrant Modern Orthodox community, where acceptance, diversity, and a deep love for Torah, the Jewish people, and the State of Israel are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to being a shul where everyone feels welcome, valued, and supported. Whether you are new to our community or a longtime member, we are thrilled to have you with us!
Our community thrives thanks to the dedication of our exceptional clergy, the tireless efforts of our leadership and volunteers, and the creativity and passion that drives our programming. Together, they inspire meaningful learning, dynamic events, and spirited davening, that uplift our souls and unite us in shared purpose.
I hope you will join us for Shabbat services, get acquainted over a delicious Kiddush lunch, attend one of our concerts or educational programs, and become part of our community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to live lives with meaning by bridging the divide between the traditions which we inherited and the world which we encounter and to enable the Jewish way of life to thrive as we embrace Am Yisrael with open arms.
Our mission is to be an open community to our fellow Jews and all people, by welcoming all who enter our doors without judgment, bringing the beauty of the Torah into the lives of whoever is interested through learning programs and sharing our most uplifting as well as our most difficult moments.
Our mission concludes with passion. We have to love what we do, love what we stand for, believe deeply that all we do is for God, for the Torah, and for the Jewish people.
