Rabbi Saul Strosberg

Rabbi Saul Strosberg joined Sherith Israel as its spiritual leader in August 2005. A native of Schenectady, NY, Rabbi Strosberg received his ordination from Yeshivat Chovevei Torah, under the leadership of Rabbi Avi Weiss. Rabbi Strosberg completed internships at the National Synagogue in Washington, DC and Beth David Synagogue in Hartford Connecticut. Prior to YCT, Strosberg received his bachelors degree in business administration from Yeshiva University and attended Hebrew University and Yeshivat Ateret Kohanim, in Jerusalem.

An experienced musician, Rabbi Strosberg played in Jewish wedding bands while living in New York. Rabbi Strosberg served as a High Holiday cantor in various communities during his years in Yeshiva, and holds the National Synagogue’s record for the longest Rosh Hashanah shofar blast.

Nationally, Rabbi Strosberg serves on the steering committee for the International Rabbinic Fellowship, is on the board of Yeshivat Maharat, and acts as an AIPAC rabbinic mentor. In town, Strosberg is the director of the Nashville Kosher Commission, rabbinic coordinator for the Nashville eruv, and is the founder of JMS Nashville, the community’s innovative Jewish middle school.

Rabbi Strosberg is married to Rabba Daniella Pressner, who is the principal at Akiva School, and together, they are the proud and grateful parents of Cole, Amalia, Ravital, and Yedid.

Cantor Emeritus George Lieberman

Cantor Emeritus George Lieberman served as Sherith Israel’s cantor for almost 20 years. Cantor Lieberman joined Sherith Israel in March 1996. He davens with the utmost intention and with the sweetest melodies. Cantor offers a weekly Haftorah class each Shabbat morning before Shachrit and a Midrash class following Kiddush. Cantor is available for one-on-one study either in person or over the phone by appointment with both adults and children. In addition, Cantor Lieberman teaches Bar/Bat Mitzvah lessons and runs the after-school Cheder Programs.

Cantor Lieberman attended Yeshiva University’s Belz School of Jewish Music and the Erna College of Hebraic Studies. In addition, he graduated Yeshiva University with a Hebrew Teachers Diploma.

Cantor Lieberman served at Castle Hill Jewish Center from 1968-1971, at Landfield Avenue Synagogue, in Monticello, NY, from 1971-1972, at Beth Israel Synagogue in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and at Congregation Adas Israel in Fall River, Massachusetts. In Halifax, Cantor served as youth director, taught bar/bat mitzvah, and ran a basketball and soccer league. In Fall River, Cantor ran a Hebrew High School program, and led 14 summer trips with teens to Israel, Canada, Hawaii, Disneyworld, and California!
